Personal Summary

"Hello, my name is Emily Schmitt (she/her).  I am so very excited to join the team at Connect Physical Therapy.  I grew up locally and continue to live in Delaware County.  I went to both undergraduate and graduate school at now Utica University.  I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, homecare, and acute care.

I have a huge passion for the pelvis and how it impacts movement and quality of life.  I started this journey in grad school and slowly added to my knowledge through multiple Herman and Wallace courses.  I worked for two years in a Pelvic Health Center along some of the best pelvic floor therapist in the Capital District. After having twins my journey has led me back to the community that helped raise me.

My passion is working with patients who have an array of pelvic floor dysfunctions (including hip and spine diagnoses). My approach to treatment is thinking holistically and integrated techniques to meet the patient where they are.  I enjoy helping patients navigate pregnancy and post partum phases, patients with chronic pelvic pain, and patients following surgery due to cancers of the pelvis (including prostate).

When not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, and working on the farm. I enjoy music, a good pun joke, and I have a love for movement of all kinds including, running, lifting, and yoga."
